A Church Member's Point of View
When I first heard that there was a Moravian Church
in Eden, my first question was "What is a Moravian?" I'd
heard of Lovefeast and Moravian cookies, but I didn't
know anything about the beliefs of the Moravian Church.
My husband and I decided to attend a Moravian Worship
Service and see what it was like. I was pleasantly
surprised. The service was rich with music and was very
much like other services I'd attended. I grew up in the
Southern Baptist Church while my husband had been a
member of a Presbyterian Church. We wanted to find a
church that would fit both of us and both of our beliefs.
We learned the essential beliefs of the Moravian church.
The essentials are so basic to Christianity that they were
already a part of our beliefs. We have since joined the
Moravian Church and are very happy here. The main
draw for us was the close family atmosphere and the
understanding that outside of the essential beliefs everyone
has the freedom to make up their own mind as to what
they believe. The Moravian Church has become our home
and we wish to share it with others.
